Most Common Questions From RIAs.
Here are some questions advisors ask first.
Can I bill my fee on DPL's solutions and how does it work?

DPL’s annuity solutions are commission-free, designed so you can bill your advisory fee on annuities just like you do on other investments in the portfolio. Fees are calculated based on the client’s contract value and can be set up to generate recurring revenue directly through your existing advisory platform or custodial process. This approach ensures transparency, keeps more of your clients’ assets working toward their goals, and removes the complexity of traditional commission structures.

How do I get paid on different types of business (Agent of Record, new business, 1035 exchanges, life insurance)?

Payment  processing is based on the type of transaction:

  • Agent of Record (AOR): Once the AOR change is complete, ongoing advisory fees can be billed based on the policy’s value
  • New business: Fees begin after the policy is issued and funded
  • 1035 exchanges: Payments are processed once the exchange is complete and funds are applied to the new policy
  • Life insurance: Compensation depends on the policy structure; DPL will provide guidance on billing and payment options during onboarding
How do 1035 exchanges differ from new business processing?

A 1035 exchange transfers funds from an existing insurance policy into a new policy, which means processing depends on both the old and new carriers completing the transfer. In contrast, new business starts fresh with the application, approval, and funding timeline set by the issuing carrier. Both are tracked in the dashboard, but exchanges often require additional follow-up to ensure a smooth transfer of assets.
