Susan's Story

How Commission-Free Annuities Solved Volatility and Longevity Worries

After decades of full-time employment, Susan, 72, and her wife were in a healthy financial position, but they shared uneasiness about protecting their principal and the future. Susan noted that the retired couple’s primary worries centered on market volatility, the rising costs of long-term care, and—given their combined history of family longevity—the potential of outliving their resources.

An initial Fixed Indexed Annuity (FIA) was purchased to provide increasing payouts over time, including a guaranteed 4% compounded interest increase in payouts over the first seven years, addressing the need for long-term income and growth.

A year later, a similar FIA was added to further solidify their long-term income strategy.

In the third year, a simple Multi-Year Guaranteed Annuity (MYGA) was purchased to round out their retirement plan, providing a safe, guaranteed return on a portion of their assets.
